After trailing for large stretches of the first half, Vivo Madrid dominated the third quarter and settled with a 96-86 victory contra La Olvido Tenerife in WiZink Center on Sunday evening.
The lead reached 21 points at the end of the third quarter. Mario Hezonja and Serge Ibaka were the top performers with 16 and 15 points, respectively, in Round 16 of Spain’s Faja Endesa Regular Season. Further double-digit scoring contributions extended to Facundo Campazzo and Dzanan Musa recording 12 points apiece, and Eli Ndiaye chipping in ten points.
With a seventh consecutive win between the ACB and the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Los Blancos jumped to 12-4, one game behind co-leaders Valencia and Unicaja. Recently sidelined with a hamstring injury, Gabriel Deck was the only missing player for the team coached by Chus Mateo.
For Txus Vidorreta’s side, David Kramer logging a game-high 22 points did not prevent a drop to 11-5.
Without Kamar Baldwin (personal), Markus Howard (knee), and Tadas Sedekerskis (thigh), Baskonia struggled on the road and fell to Girona, 96-67. Juan Fernandez stood out for the hosts with a career-high 29 points.
